In 2017 I made the decision to leave my corporate role and begin a new career that gave me joy and a sense of accomplishment. After becoming certified as an Equine Assisted Coach-Trainer, I went in search of my new business partner (a horse). I knew that I wanted to rescue a horse.
I found Next Step Horse Rescue in the Colorado Springs area. They had a few horses that seemed of interest to me and I made an appointment to visit. Next Step had several great horses but I fell in love with Prince (aka Sir Lancelot). We adopted him and brought him home to Boulder and his new barn, Medicine Horse.
Today, Prince and I enjoy lots of trail rides together and he helps me run my coaching business and he also participates in Equine Psychotherapy helping kids and adults on the ground with grief, trauma, abuse, PTSD and more. He’s loved by lots of people & especially me. I’m proud to tell everyone that my horse makes me a better person, and it’s true.
What #RightHorse means to me
I feel strongly that horses should be rescued whenever possible, there are lots of wonderful horses who need a loving home.
