We had been looking for an older, well-mannered horse for our daughter, Tera.
One day this horse popped up on a Facebook page for free. The ad stated that he was abandoned by his owners and would be headed to slaughter Monday morning if not rehomed. This was Saturday. After many attempts, we got a hold of the people that had him and made arrangements to come meet Joker. To be honest, I was expecting a rough-around-the-edges, ornery horse. To my surprise, I met a very kind gentlemen with a very good temperament. I was informed that he was passed on by five other people due to a clicking hock and terrible-looking hooves.
I agreed to take him and brought him home. It has been five months now and he is part of the family. My daughter and Joker have quite the bond, like two peas in a pod. After getting his hooves handled and some weight back on, Joke has enough energy to keep up with his eight-year-old girl. Once warmed up, the clicking goes away. I’m proud to say this is his forever home. (But I do have to say he is a messy eater! Haha!)
The right horse is a horse that is a little girl’s best friend.
