by | May 2019 | Story

Breed American Quarter Horse

Age 11

Sex Gelding

Color Chestnut

Height 15.1hh

Our daughter is a true lover of anything with four legs. She had never ridden a horse or been around them much in her life. We never put much thought into adopting a horse, let alone one that seemed so big compared to our nine year old daughter.

Alyssa and Sugar Ray had an instant bond from the first time they laid eyes on each other. He has taught her so much in such a short time! She has learned to ride, care for and have a deep connection with Sugar Ray. He is very patient and forgiving of her flaws; he truly takes care of her, both in and out of the saddle.

They have such an understanding; he loves when she bathes him and does anything she asks of him. As soon as he sees or hears her his ears perk up and he comes looking for his person. They had attended a rodeo camp and had numerous great rides together. When they are together she is more confident and calm. He is truly her #righthorse.

What #RightHorse means to me

Our #righthorse means having a a gentle soul that will always be there for our child; no matter what is going on in her life. We look forward to watching her grow with such a solid relationship in her life.
