Boehringer Ingelheim Donates Supplies to Horses through the ASPCA’s Right Horse Initiative
NEW YORK – The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health has generously donated several hundred cases of UlcerGard, a product used to prevent gastric ulcers in equines, to its Right Horse Initiative adoption partners and the horses in their care.
“This exciting partnership is just one example of how the equine industry is supporting adoption and helping horses in transition,” said Dr. Emily Weiss, vice president of Equine Welfare for the ASPCA. “We are grateful to Boehringer Ingelheim for their generous donation as it will assist equine organizations in their efforts to help more at-risk horses.”
The ASPCA Right Horse Initiative adoption partners care for equines of varying breeds, ages and backgrounds as they transition from one home or career to the next. Boehringer Ingelheim’s UlcerGard will be used to prevent ulcers in hundreds of at-risk horses as they are rehabilitated, retrained and prepared for adoption.
“All horses can experience moments of stress, and managing that stress is a key part of maintaining optimal health of the horses,” said Renee Hall, head of the U.S. Equine business of Boehringer Ingelheim. “We are pleased to do our part to help horses in need through this donation, and to support them on their journey to adoption.”
The Right Horse Initiative hosts a collective of industry professionals, including Boehringer Ingelheim, as well as equine welfare organizations, and advocates working together to reframe the conversation around equine adoption and improve the lives of horses in transition through a dialogue of kindness and respect. In collaboration with over 70 industry and adoption partners, the Initiative has launched innovative programming focused on shattering the stigma surrounding horses in transition.
