His show name is SS Serendipity so that begins our story…
My mom found Gordon through an adoption organization in Maryland called Days End Farm Horse Rescue. They told us of a place in Virginia where that had sent another horse for training. My mom started following the Equine Welfare Society on her Facebook and would see all of the horses going through training there.
Gordon popped up one day on the Facebook page. He was gorgeous but we aren’t quite ready to own a horse. A year went by and we would continue to see posts about Gordon. He was always just there. And then when we were ready to get our own horse we looked at a few others who just didn’t fit the bill.
My mom decided that we had to go to Virginia to see Gordon. So we went on a road trip to see him. All the way there my mom kept saying, “I have a good feeling about this”. When we got to the barn, we had to walk down a hill to get to the outdoor where Gordon was waiting with the trainers…as soon as we got to the top of the hill he looked up at us and we looked at him and knew immediately he was our horse.
And three weeks later he was. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to adopt. He gives us his everything, every single day. We found our forever horse through adoption.
What #RightHorse means to me
When we knew we were ready to get our own horse my Mom talked to my trainer. The first thing my mom said is that we would first look into adoption. There are so many horses that needs homes. People need to get over the part where it’s an adoption or a rescue horse. They are horses too. And they will give you their all because they are so happy to be loved again! Every horse deserves a little girl to love them. Right Horse is making this happen more often.
