I discovered Bug through a sale ad on Facebook and I instantly felt an attraction towards him. I had begun my horse search a month before, and he sounded just like who I was looking for. I vividly remember the day I first met Bug. He was cross tied and being groomed when I walked into the barn. It was like a spark ignited between us. I said hello to him, petting his soft, white face and scratching under his chin. As I did so, he began to rest his head in my hands and I melted. His calm, chill personality was exactly what I was looking for…and exactly what I needed.
I spent some time grooming him and chatting with the owner before I watched her ride him. I took videos to send to my trainer and loved watching him move. He just looked so happy to do whatever was asked of him! The second I hopped on him and sat deep in the saddle everything just felt right. He was a smooth little mover with very comfortable gaits. As I gazed through his brown ears, I thought to myself, “This is a view I could get used to.”
After visiting him again a second time (and after my trainer tried him out) we all agreed that he was worth having a vet check. On May 3rd, 2017 Bug came to the barn to have his pre-purchase exam. I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I had already made up my mind that unless the vet said there was something catastrophically wrong, I would be adopting him.
Now, May 3rd will remain the best day of my life. I remember seeing the truck and trailer pull in by the barn and hearing Bug whinny with excitement as he pulled up to his new home. My heart skipped a beat when I watched him hop off the trailer to view a whole new world around him. He wasn’t afraid of all the new things, rather curious and genuinely interested. He was a very well behaved boy for his exam, and the vet even told me that he was a pleasure to work with! As the exam went on, I began to get more excited (and nervous) for the end result. Could this be it? Could he really be the one,” I kept thinking to myself. And he was. But and I were meant to be. After all the heartbreak and stress I dealt with through my horse search, Bug was the prize of a lifetime at the end of it all. In the short time I’ve had him he has taken all of the hurt out of my heart and filled it with happiness. I can’t believe how lucky I got with him. It’s like he was made for me. He’s my whole world, and I honely can’t imagine my life without him! Who would’ve thought it would be a small horse named Bug…
And Bug is so lucky you found him, too! Anxious to watch you continue to grow the bond between you!
