We have two adopted horses; Dakota a 12-year-old chestnut gelding and Charlie a 10 year old palomino paint gelding. We adopted these two beautiful guys from Horses’ Haven in Howell Michigan.

Dakota came into the care of Horses’ Haven last fall via Animal Control. He was in rough shape when he arrived. He was skin and bones, and filthy. Being a volunteer at Horses’ Haven and having regular contact with Dakota made me fall in love with this gorgeous boy.

Kristi, the adoption coordinator, was AWESOME in trying to help us find a perfect companion for Dakota! We have two kids so horses that were kid friendly with a great temperament was of the utmost importance to us. When Kristi heard about Charlie and his history she immediately thought of us. When we met Charlie, we instantly fell in love with this big teddy bear!

Having these two gorgeous boys as part of our little hobby farm and family has been such a blessing for our whole family. We couldn’t be any happier with our boys and our experience adopting from Horses’s Haven!

I highly recommend adopting and Horses’ Haven. The best of the best in my book!

What #RightHorse means to me

I have ridden horses but never owned before. I have been volunteering at Horses Haven for the last year and a half to learn all I needed to know about their care. Boy did I end up at the right place! We could not be any happier with the adoption process and the two beautiful boys we now call our family!
